Plenty of people in Mustang keep working past 65. Whether you retire on your birthday or years later, the order you do things in decides whether you can get a Medicare Supplement without health questions.
Your Medicare Supplement (Medigap) Open Enrollment Period is a one-time, 6-month window. It starts the first month you are 65 or older and have Medicare Part B. During it, a company can't refuse to sell you any Medigap policy it offers in Oklahoma and can't charge you more because of pre-existing health problems. After it ends, you may not be able to buy a policy, or it may cost more.
If you or your spouse have job-based coverage, you may be able to delay Part B. Medicare gives you a Special Enrollment Period while you have that coverage and for 8 months after the job or the coverage ends, whichever happens first. COBRA doesn't extend that window. Your Medigap Open Enrollment Period starts when you sign up for Part B, so don't take Part B early "just because" if you plan to keep your employer plan. Time it with Jeff.
