The short version
Medicare Supplement + Part D
- Monthly premium for the supplement and drug plan
- Any provider in the U.S. that accepts Medicare
- Low, predictable costs when you get care
- No referrals
Medicare Advantage
- Often a low monthly plan premium (you still pay Part B)
- Usually a network (HMO or PPO)
- Copays as you use care, up to a yearly out-of-pocket maximum
- Often includes drug coverage and extras
How I help people choose
If the supplement premium fits your budget, I usually start there because of the flexibility and predictable costs. If it doesn't, Medicare Advantage can be a lower-premium way to get coverage, and we'll look at the plans I offer to check your doctors and prescriptions.
Switching later
Moving from Advantage back to a supplement isn't always simple. Outside guaranteed-issue situations, a supplement company can use health questions to decide. That makes the first decision at 65 worth thinking through.
We do not offer every plan available in your area. Currently we represent 1 organization which offers 7 products in your area. Please contact Medicare.gov, 1-800-MEDICARE, or your local State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) to get information on all of your options.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Does it cost anything to work with you?
No. You don't pay me anything to work with me. Licensed agents are paid by the insurance company.
What is the difference between Plan G and Plan N?
Plan G covers the Medicare-approved costs Original Medicare leaves after the yearly Part B deductible. Plan N usually has a lower premium, and you pay the Part B deductible, a copay of up to $20 for some office visits, up to $50 for emergency room visits that do not result in an inpatient admission, and possible Part B excess charges.
Is Plan G the same from every company?
Yes. Medicare Supplement benefits are standardized, so Plan G covers the same things no matter which company sells it. Premiums, rate history and service can differ, which is why I compare carriers.
When can I buy a Medicare Supplement without health questions?
During your six-month Medigap Open Enrollment Period, which starts the month you are 65 or older and enrolled in Part B, and in certain other guaranteed-issue situations.
Can I change my Medicare Supplement any time?
You can apply any month of the year. Outside guaranteed-issue situations, the company may ask health questions to decide.
Do you offer Medicare Advantage plans?
Yes. If a supplement premium doesn't fit your budget, I can walk you through the Medicare Advantage plans I offer. I don't offer every plan available in your area.
