If you live in Guthrie and are turning 65, you have more than one decision ahead: Part A and Part B, a Medicare Supplement, and drug coverage. Jeff Spitler can go through them with you in a free review, by phone or in person.
Your Medicare Supplement (Medigap) Open Enrollment Period is a one-time, 6-month window. It starts the first month you are 65 or older and have Medicare Part B. During it, a company can't refuse to sell you any Medigap policy it offers in Oklahoma and can't charge you more because of pre-existing health problems. After it ends, you may not be able to buy a policy, or it may cost more.
A Medicare Supplement works alongside Original Medicare and helps pay costs like your 20% coinsurance. Medigap policies generally don't cover prescription drugs, so most people add a separate Part D plan. Keep in mind that a Medicare Supplement is only for people with Original Medicare. If you join a Medicare Advantage plan instead, you don't use a supplement. See Supplement vs. Advantage.
